UP Crew is a student-run rowing club with men's and women's teams that compete in regional and national regattas. No rowing experience is required to join.
We will be holding team meetings this Wednesday, September 14 and Thursday, September 15 at 7:00pm for all those interested in learning more about UP crew. Practice schedules, races, and various other nuts and bolts will be discussed. Come on the day that works best for you and bring your questions. We look forward to meeting you!

After inspiring the team to a strong performance for the past four years (see our results), Kinsey Keller is stepping down from her position as head coach. The team cannot thank Coach Keller enough for her dedication to the team and the countless hours she spent coaching and maintaining equipment to allow a significant portion of the UP community an opportunity to learn to row.
While we are sad to see Coach Keller leave, the UP Crew Club is excited to introduce our new head coach for the 2011-2012 school year, Plamen Petrov. Coach Petrov has been involved in the rowing community for over 27 years and his impressive resume includes:

We are beginning training for the spring 2011 season. Come join us! You will get an opportunity to learn a new sport, meet new people and travel to regattas! Look for our fliers around campus, or email us for more info!
The women's eights posted first and second place finishes at the Club Fall Championships held in Olympia, WA. The novice men placed second in a composite boat with rowers from Portland State. Congrats to all our novices on a successful ending to their first season of racing!
After training for half of the semester we are now into our fall races. The men's varsity four had a trial run at Row for the Cure, and now the whole team is ready to compete. Our first race will be the Portland Fall Classic on 10/31; following that we will be participating with other clubs in a scrimmage in Olympia, WA on 11/6 and the varsity rowers will continue on to Seattle, WA the following day for Head of the Lake on 11/7. It might be chilly, but that won't stop us! As always we encourage everyone that would like to, to come cheer us on and show their PURPLE PRIDE!!!
A few announcements: We are going to have a table at the Activities Fair Friday, September 3rd. Come by and say hi; we would be glad to answer any questions you might have! Also, we will be holding informational meetings Monday, September 6th and Thursday, September 9th, location TBA. All those interested should try to make one of the meetings. We will be providing an overview of the sport as well as where we compete, etc. ect.

Here it is, our fall season is about to start and the team couldn't be more ready. Practice will start bright and early at 5am on Monday, August 30th. Anyone is welcome to join us, just e-mail either Kyle at firstname.lastname@example.org or Coach Kinsey at email@example.com for more details.
As UP Crew returns from our final regatta we walk away from our spring season with three gold medals, two silver, and one bronze! At the start of the season we took second, third, and fourth in the women's open at the Tough Love indoor ergatta; the women's varsity pair placed first at the Covered Bridge Regatta, the women's varsity four and our mixed eight both achieved gold at our club championships on Hagg Lake, and the women's varsity pair finished the WIRA Championships with a silver medal. All in all a wonderful season!
