UP Polo History

The University of Portland Men's Water Polo Club was started in the fall of 2003 by Jeff Gibbs. Since the start of the club, we have been playing games against other colleges and universities in the Northwest region. We joined the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) in the fall of 2004, and compete in the Northwest Men's Club Division. The club has been able to purchase caps and balls through funding from the ASUP. The club struggles with an inadaquate practice facility, and we rent another pool as much as possible for practices. Our fans are excellent and they have been very supportive of us.

A big goal for us is to keep our club size increasing. Any full-time student from UP can join the club. We schedule as many games as possible to gain experience and have more fun. We sincerely hope that our club can continue to give students the opportunity to practice and compete in the sport that they love.

If you are interested in joining the club or scheduling a game against our club please contact us at clubh2o@up.edu.
